Thornaby Cricket Club.
The pitch is at Mandale Bottoms and is the home of Thornaby Cricket Club.
Thornaby CC was formerly called South Stockton Cricket Club and was founded in the middle 1800`s and was at its old ground, different from today’s location.In the late 1800`s the clubs name was changed to Thornaby Cricket Club and in 1905 changed the grounds to Mandale Bottoms where it is now. That is 100 years at this ground. The club are in the NYSD league.

Stafford Place Cricket Club.
The pitch is off Basselton Lane and is the home of Stafford Place cricket Club.

Thornaby has a top class golf course surrounding the cricket pitch at Mandale Bottoms.

Thornaby has a football team playing in the Albany Northern league.
They play at the old Head Wrightsons sports club site behind the cemetery ,off Acklam road.

FISHING
There is now plenty of good fishing all along the length of the river covering the Thornaby Boundaries.
From the barrage area right upto the mouth of the Leven you can have a real good days sport.Everything from Minnows to Trout and Salmon can be caught.There are some huge shoals of Dace and Roach .
Favoured spots seem to be around The Diana Bridge, The Victoria Bridge and along the allotment paths.The areas around Basselton Woods and the Horse Shoe Bend are also excellent.
Numerous fishing matches are being organised all along the stretch at the Black Bobbies field,Horseshoe Bend and Basselton Woods.

LITTLEBOY PARK
The first of our parks to be upgraded .The Littleboy now has a new safe childrens play area.
There are 2 full size football pitches and recently renovated 5 tennis courts.
There is a private bowls club based in the Littleboy.

VICTORIA RECREATION GROUND
The second park to undergo an upgrade. The Rec now has a new safe childrens play area, a grass football pitch and an outdoor basketball/netball court.

VILLAGE PARK
Currently undergoing a slow but steady upgrade under the auspices of SBC and the Village Park Residents Association. Click on the pictures to see the latest about this park.

Thornaby Central Library
Situated in the Pavilion Leisure Centre in Thornaby Town Centre, the library mainly serves the communities of Thornaby and Ingleby Barwick as well as town centre employees. The one level building has a separate Reference Library offering a quiet place to study. There is also a large and fairly soundproofed children's library separate from the adult lending library!
