The Pleasure gardens covering approximatley 3 acres was given to the town by Lord Harewood in 1906 and officially opened in 1909. After many years of neglect it was tidied up in 2008 with funding obtained by the Friends of Harewood Pleasure Gardens aided by other Voluntary and Residents Groups in the town. paths and steps have been repaired or restored and the Cenotaph given more space free from weeds. Dead and diseased trees were removed along with tonnes of rubbish that had been dumped and accumulated over recent years, grass and weeds were strimmed and new litter and dog waste bins installed. the area today is pleasant to dog walk or just go for a stroll, at the the time of taking the pictures below the grass and weeds were longer than normal while it is awaiting its rotation for cutting.
