There is a circular walk with a cut grass path that takes you around the area , up past the ponds and fish haven, through the bushes and pick up the next field. You can go either way round then back along the route to the Village Green. Approx. time 1/2 hour. Go down the hill and take the track on the right and walk around the Horseshoe Bend with its Newt pond and fish haven. Once back at the hill take the right hand trail into Basselton Woods, you can either take the lower route along the river or higher up the woods. Follow the trails to the fare end and then pick up the trail to Thornaby Woods, once in Thornaby Woods take the trail to the left and out of the wood at the rear of the Harold Wilson Playing Fields.
