The Mandale Linear Park was opened in June 2008. At an approximate cost of 1 million pounds the park was built along the valley between the old Mandale estate and the Littleboy area. The Mandale estate has now been cleared and most of the area is now re built with new housing as far over as Mitchell Avenue. Linear Park has a series of winding pathways that run through from Redcar Road to the Cemetery and Lanehouse road to Baysdale road and Mitchell Avenue.

In late 2011 the “park” was renamed Allison Trainer Park in memory of the late local hardworking councillor Mrs Allison Trainer who sadly lost her battle with breast cancer.
